The assas- « sins enticed Chichinette to a ball, after which they adjourned to a secluded cafe. During a. conversation Carabant seized Chichinette by trie throat, threw her to the ground, and tried to strangle her. Chichinette managed to free herself, and sprang on Angelina, who stabbed her benefactress with twenty knife wounds.

The murderers weighted the bloodstained body and threw it into the canal, after removing the tawdry jewellery. The body of poor Chichinette rose to the surface, despite Ihe shackles, and the autopsy showed that s-he lived .in agony for some time. The assassins afterwards proceeded to the victim's room and stole her savings, £()0.
