GERMANY'S NEW MERCHANT FLEET.
• NEW YORK, May U. The "World's" Paris correspondent says: The British delegates offered a plan for the disposition of Germany's merchant fleet, under which each Allied country would retain the ships seized in its ports. Mr. Hoyd George, at the instignation of the British Dominions, now asks that the question he re-openedfi, because the British losses in merchantmen were greater than the number of German snips seized in all ports.

The wool sales opened briskly. Prices were from par to five per Cent, in advance - compared with the April sales. Fine erossbreds and Merinos advanced five per cent. MeuTuni and low were unchanged. -

BRITISH AND ALLIED CHAMPIONS.
LONDON, May 6
The Air Ministry, having examined the war records of British airmen, has awarded the championship to the late Major Mannock, who downed seventythree enemy machines. LieutenantColonel Bishop, a Canadian, accounted for seventy-two. Poncy holds pie Allied record with seventy-eight.
