1 . DUNEDIN, May 6. | The new standardised steamer Waitenxata, built by the Imperial Govcrnj ment, and purchased by th e Union j S.S. Company while on the stocks, will I leave England this month for Calcutta, | via Port Said, and proceed thence to Calcutta to load for main New Zealand ports, via. Singapore and Samarang. The Waitemata is one of th e five steamers, purchased by the Union Company to replace those vessels lost through enemy action and other causes during the war. The vessel is 9000 tens dead weight, and her speed 12 knots. She was built by the Northumberland Shipping Company, and was only recently launched.
