FOR THE SOLDIER.

INDUSTRIES AND INSURANCE. N.S.W. GOVERNMENT SCHEME SYDNEY, April 25. The Stale Government yesterday appointed a sub-committee, consisting of the Premier (Mr, Holman), Treasurer (Mr. Fitzpatrick), and Acting-Minister for Labour (Mr. Grahamc), to finalise the various proposals which have been occupying the attention of the Government in connection with repatriation.

The sub-comicittc© will not deal with the land settlement aspects of repatriation but rather with all its indusrial sides. For some months past Cabinet has been giving continuous attention to proposals dealing with: The increase of production.

The absorption of the unemployed. The organisation of employers for the securing of -preference to returned

men. Insurance against unemployment. The consequential problems of public works and finance policy^ Matters have not reached a stage where it is considered that a general scheme, covering the whole matter, can be formulated. The Premier hopes to be able to present a report to his colleagues at the next meeting of Cabinet.

The Premier’s secretary (Mr. Hay), the Under-Secretary of the Treasury (Mr Heilman), and the Under-Secre-tary for Labour (Mr. Payne) have been made members of the sub-corn-mitttee, and are assisting in the final shaping of its efforts.
