WELLINGTON SUPREME COURT

A HOUSEBREAKING JOCKEY

WFJLLINGTON, May 6.

Chas. Clifford Jenkins, formerly a well-known jockey, who had pleaded guilty to breaking, entering and theft at Bulls, came up for sentence co-day. The Chief Justice said the prisoner was suffering from alcoholic poisoning and ordered him to be confined on Rotoroa Island for 18 months. Meanwhile he would have to remain, in hospital.

Eric Howell and Ernest Braier, two boys who admitted placing gates across the Railway line, at Paraparauinu, were ordered to pay costs and come Up for sentence when called upon, on condition they went to work in the country.
