COMPLAINTS IN AMERICA. LONDON. April 4. The "Times" correspondent at New York reports that Prohibitionist aeal is menacing the liberties of railway travellers. Numerous complaints have been made of the searches which are carried ont when persons arc passing from "wet" to "dry" -territory. Ladies have been awakened in their sleeping berths by prohibition -agents brandishing revolvers and demanding to be allowed to search the beds for forbidden drinks. Tire Mayor of Wilmington, North Carolina, has written a further letter to the Director of Railways, declaring that "prolhibitiion thugs" jTtolo a lady's lingerie while allegedly hunting for liquor. The Prohibiifonists deny the allegations that four State Prohibition agents who arrived at Woodstock, Virginia, had been charged with shooting two men for refusing to permit the search cf a motor car.
