BOLSHEVIK BLUFF.
TEMPTING THE N.Z. TROOPS. "COMRADES OF THE GERMAN WORKING CLASSES.'* An interesting sample of the Bolshevist propaganda carried out amongst, the New Zealand troops while in Germany has been handed to the "Auckland Star" in the shape of a cheaply-printed leaflet which was distributed broadcast amongst the British troops in ccoupied Germany. The pamphlet is headed, "Why are you not dcmobilished, British soldiers and comrades?" and in its first, sentence it announces that the war is over and "Prussian militarism t has been overthrown by the" working classes of Germany"—a sentiment, the humour of which would doubtless be relished by the men who fought the heroic months of the final big push. Answering for itself the quaint query "Why you not go home?" the pamphlet states that the British Government dare not tell the troops the real reason, namely, that under the pretext of forming a "League of Nations, "the allied Governments are dividing up amongst themselves the rich territories of Europe, Asia, ami Africa/' 'lsn't it clear," continues this Ingenious document, "that the real reason of the war was because Prussfan 'militarism wanted to conquer" "the world from the Allied capitalists, and the Allied capitalists wanted to iacea'] ali they could from their brother robbers in Berlin? And you are now under arms and unable to go home to your wives and families because "English \ and French bankers, capitalists, and j lords are making you the watchdogs of < their ill-gotten gains.." j
The pamphlet sets forth in primtiive argument the case for Bolshevism and declares that the negotiations of the Allies with the Ebert-Scliiedeiv.ann Government, the puppet of the I'iussian militarists, shows that the British and French Governments are really the secret friends of Prussian militarism, because they are the drTendcrs of the rich. It. paints a lugubrious picture of Lloyd George,. Cleinenceall and Foch organising reactionary armies to down the German revolution and sho.ct the English minors and railwaymen if they dare to strike for bet-
ter conditions of living, and if it is not time that the Free Labour Republic in England to rid Europe and the world of exploitation and slavcry < "Remember you are comrades of the German working class Elect your own councils of soldiers' deputies. Long live the Union of the British and German workers!!! Long live the social revolution!!! Long live the emancipation of labou" from slavery!!!** are tii "• concluding sentiments of this precious pamphlet. The exclamation narks are made :n Germany. They are almost superfluous of n by way cf" emphasising the unconscious satire i the appeal.
