LOAN FOR BUILDING REJECTED

HAMILTON, April 23.

A poll was taken to-day for the purpose of obtaining the ratepayers ' ."auction to the proposal of the Borough Council to borrow £20,000 for the purpose of erecting workers' dwellings. Very little interest was taken in the poll, despite the fact that the housing problem is very acute here. Out of 2893 eligible 'to vote, only 341 rateparers exercised their privilege.
