A ROMANCE OF THE WAR.

A remarkable romance of the war will result in a happy wedding-, says the "Weekly Post." When hostilities commenced a. young man employed in business in Birmingham joined the Army, and eventually went to France. He was engaged to the daughter of a farmer on the south side of the city, and it was deemed prudent to defer their wedding, /although the young recruit, before leaving the coun try. made a will leaving all his property to the lady of his affections. After being a regular correspondent for some time the letters suddenly ceased, and the name of the young man was given amongst the missing. Later he was reported by the War Office as "believed to be hilled." and the estate was closed in accordance with the terms of the vvlli. The lady concerned went, into mourning, and decided to purchase some land near her father's farm, also buying some stock. She had benn engaged on clero cal work in the city, but a short time ago she was surprised to receive a telegram, purporting to be signed by her fiancee, and asking her. to meet him ,at Snow Hill Station. There was a happy re-union, and the girl bore up until asked by her lover for whom she was in mourning, when she collapsed. It transpired Subsequently that the man had been a prisoner in Germany, and, as he said, had written hundreds of letters to the lady and to the War Office, but none of thorn appear to have reached their lestination.
