He Taihape Daily Times. AND WAIMARINO ADVOCATE

WEDNESDAY, April 9. ALARMING CABLE NEWS.

(With which is incorporated The Taihape Port tfid WatnaarVao

Of the four men who have the deciding of the destinies of the world, Mr Lloyd George occupies the most unenviable position. He is assailed from both extremes, the autocrat of the “Daily Mail'’—Lord Northcliffe —. on ond.side, and the dictators of Labour —Henderson and Macdonald —on the other. Between them, they are seeking to devour the whole soul of the British Prime Minister, rendering him a mere factotum to be spun at their respective wills. The “Daily Mail’s” hostility to Mr Lloyd George goes so far as to threaten that it will dethrone him, or, virtually, to something of that kind; while Arthur Henderson and Ramsay Macdonald have made him to understand that if he agrees to active measures being take’' against Bolshevism the support ofifthcir followers in the ranks of Labour will be withdrawn. Here, then, wc have two self-proclaim-ed Bolshevists in the B'ritish halls of Legislature who dare to use their Bolshevik power to render the British Prime Minister a mere puppet in his efforts with the other three chief Allies of Britain to secure a basis for peace with German}-, and a constitution that will render a Parliament of the World acceptable to all nations. There is nothing so evident in the action of the Henderson and Macdonald pair as the fact that they are opposed to a peace with Germany .that will not permit of the bloody wave of revolution passing over our fair Empire; they threaten Lloyd George that their support will be taken from him if he dares to sanction any action against the horrors of Bolshevism. What are we 0:1 this side of the globe to understand by the Henderson-Macdonalcl threat, and what’ arc wc to infer respecting the strength of the Bolshevism that warrants such threats being made against Britain’s Prime Minister? It scorns undeniable that wc are not being told the whole truth about what the actual position is. British authorities are reported to be taking action to suppress Bolshevism, and here is unanswerable evidence that Bolsheviks in the House of Commons have grown so held by the greatness of the force behind them that they dare dictate to the Prime Minister what he shall do, .and to threaten him with dire evil if he dares sanction action towards stemming the hordes of frightfulnoss that arc ovoi’running Europe, committing crimes so hideous that what the Germans were guilty of are as nothing to them. What further testimony than that coming from their own mouths is needed to ensure the condemning of these arohBolsheviks from any part in the British Government. and transporting them to Russia, where they will be in their clement? Surely they will not be tolerated in any British community, and least of all in the British Parliament. If the Government is powerless to move them, then the only conclusion to be drawn is that the balance of power is with the Hendersons and Macdonalds and their B’olshevik friends and supporters, who .are only awaiting an opportune time to seize the reins of government and commence the machine-gunning of innocent women and children from every available street corner, and to put. in motion those hideous schemes of human tor-

turc which are so disgusting and horrifying' as to be unmentionable. It is. either this or the cables' coining to hand yesterday arc untrue. We in New Zealand do not desire to wait till the greatest curse of the world is upon us before being apprised of its real existence. It seems that Air Lloyd George is to bo compelled, if possible, to show which way he leans, whether he is rather pro-German and Bolshevist, or whether ho will stand for government by arbitration and vote, in the establishment of a League of Nations which eliminates government by machine guns, murder, and rapine. The “Daily Alail” reminds Lloyd George that his friendly attitude towards Bolshevism, and the tenderness he displays towards Germany are causing acute disquietude in Paris. The same newspaper states that Henderson and Alacdonakl have intimated to Lloyd George that the support of their followers depended upon his continuing to with old his sanction for active measures against the Bolsheviks. There is only one 'conclusion to be drawn from these two statements; will Lloyd George succumb to the Bolsheviks or will he remain firm to the Allies, by whose side the war .against civilisation was won?
