RIVALLING THE FRENCH 75. Received 10.5 a.m. LONDON, March 21. The Evening Standard states that the War Office has decided to issue a new field gun which was tried in the latest stages of the war. The range of the weapon is 4000 yards greater than the eighteen-pounder. It has extraordinary steadiness, rivalling the French 75. Twenty-five rounds per minute were fired during trials.
