.V GREAT MUSICAL EVENT

VISIT OF ANTONIA DOLORES

The most noteworthy event, musically, that has been, promised to this town, is the visit of Madamoiselle Antonia Dolores, the world famed French soprano, who makes her appearance in the Town Hall on Saturday evening next. It is in the “music of the heart” that this gifted singer scores her greatest triumphs. In the dainty English, French, and other foreign ballads she sings with refined methods and an irresistible appeal. This wonderful vocalist, according to the Sydney “Daily Telegraph,” strikes a responsive chord in every heart. Her repertoire ranges from the dramatic “Traviata” aria “Ah fors e lui” to “Coming through the Rye” and “Home, Sweet Home,” as the closing number. Perhaps she scores heaviest in the French “Laughing Song” which she has made peculiarly her own. Dolores, too. charming artist that she is, brings her song and her magnetic personality 10 cheer us along the road of further happy memories. She is, possessed of a groat repertoire in the interpretative art of music, which carries with it responsibilities as well as pleasures, and the items w 7 hich compose her programmes are always in keeping with her singing of them, and this, again, is always in accordance with the expression of a refined and graceful nature. This is MadamoisoTo Dolores’ farewell visit to the Do-

minion, and those who miss hearing her on Satudday night will probably never have another opportunity. Mr, Harold Smith, of Australasian fame, will be at the piano. The box plan is now open at Swedlund’s music warehouse, where seats may now be reserved. Country residents may (book seats by post.
