A frosty night gave place in The early morning to wanner airs from The north, and shooting began in a variable light, with a puzzling breeze, ranging from straight down the range to the left rear.
The first event taken was the-Can-terbury Match, ten shots at 600 yards which resulted: .W. Patterson, Kaitangata, £5;, 47; R. Hathaway, Te Ku* iti, £4, 45; Lt. W. Hudson, P. and T. £4, 45; M. Jarvis, Taradalj,’ £3, 45; J. Purser, Wanganui, £4, 45; Captain Crawford N.Z.W.C., £3, 44; LL Green Westport, £2, 44; A. E. Helmshaw, Christchurch, £2, 44; Patterson is a tyro.
