In London recently, Dr Noel Bar* swell spoke of the prevalence of tufceculosis, stating that mere than any Other form of illness this disease took its toll of workers in the prime of life. Every year (50,000 deaths occurred from this disease. ..At that moment there were, it was estimated, a quarter of a million consumptives in England, the larger proportion ot whom were to be found among the

working classes. Among the contributory causes of tuberculosis were malnutrition sweated labour, impure milk, bad housing and over crowding and ill ventilated -workshops and wcrkroms. This was a matter that must be dealt with by the new Government.
