Brigandage in the streets of Petrograd is general. Parties consisting of 15 or 20 Red Guards each go about a:, night terrorising the population ana pillaging private houses and public buildings. Lenin in a speech at Moscow said; The only thing to do is to shoot several hundreds of our own officials in Petrograd and Moscow in one day, otherwise our own fate is sealed. .Lenin also stated that the production of Soviet banknotes exceeds five hundred millions sterling monthly.
'Among the hostages whom the 80l sheviks recently killed were General Russky and General Dimitrieff. They with a hundred others were shot down with machine guns. Those still alive were hacked to pieces with swords. The peasants refuse to pay all taxes, and are resisting their collection by force of arms.

Despatches from Archangel say Zinovieff, Governor of Perrograd in a speech, said the Bolsheviks were unwilling to attend the Prince’s Island Conference, because any pear© with the Allies would not be considered binding. It would serve the purpose of alleviating the food shortage, but. would not prevent the continued organisation of the Red Army and the spread of Bolshevism.
