In the matter of Eating on ithe System of Unimproved Value.
j PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given ! that a Demand that a proposal to adopt the system of rating property on the basis of unimproved value of all rateable property within the Borough of Taihape be submitted to the vote of the Ratepayers of the said Borough, was delivered to the Mayor of the said Borough on the 3rd day of March, 1919, and such demand was sufficiently signed by at least 15 per cent, of the Ratepayers on the Roll, as required by Section 37 fc) of “The Eating Act, 1908.” Public Notice is hereby further given that iu compliance with the said demand and with the provisions of Section 37 of the said Act. that the votes of the Ratepayers of the Borough of Taihape will be taken upon a propostal —i.e, “That henceforth the system of Rating property on the basis of the Unimproved Value thereof be adopted, iu the Borough of Taihape” in the manner 'prescribed by the said Act on Wednesday, the 26th day '"of 1 March, 1919 (being the day fixed in that behalf by the Mayor as Chairman of the Local Authority) between the hours of nine o’clock in the morning and seven o’clock in the nftcr- ( noon at the following Polling B'ooth: I Council Chambers. MENZIES, i Town Clerk. i Chief Electoral Office, Wellington, 20th February, 1919, SPECIAL LICENSING POLL TO BE TAKEN ON 10th APRIL, 1919 NOTICE TO RETURNED SOLDIERS. EVERY member of the Expeditionary Force who has already returned to New Zealand should make application for enrolment On the regular Electoral Roll of the district in which, he resided before he left New Zealand. He has not lost his right to be so enrolled by reason of hisabseuce on military service. If on the day of the Poll he expects to be resident out of the district he can obtain an absent voters* permit.
The rolls for the Special Licensing Poll close finally on the 6th March, and APPLICATION FOR ENROLMENT MUST BE MADE ON OR BEFORE THAT DATE.
Returned soldiers who have already been discharged or whose discharge will become final before the 10th of April must observe that, inasmuch as they have ceased ,or will have ceased to be members of the Expeditionary Forces, they can only vote on the lOtn of April as electors of a district, and cannot have their votes recorded under the special provisions permittees by the law for existing members of the Expeditionary Forces. The above applies to all returned soldiers who have already arrived, and to all returned soldiOfs who may arrive before the 3rd of MARCH next.
Members of the Expeditionary Forces who arrive on or after the 3rd of March and before the 10th of April will not bo finally discharged until the 11th of April, and will remain members of the Expeditionary Forces and be entitled to record their votes as such under the special Regulations provided in that behalf.
