; V LEAGUE OF NATIONS APPROVAL . ’ NEW YORK, February 25 Country wide opinion has chrystal|ised£ into general approval of Presispeech and of the League of Nations. It is believed that his dinner to Congressmen will have the effect of swaying opinion towards his convictions, because he will submit hitherto unpublished arguments and take legislators into Ms Confidence. President Wilson will crack his whip over his supporters, and compel legislators and the public to declare plainly whether or not they support his policy.

It is believed that President Wilson’s speech explaining the League of Nations, which is awaited with the keenest interest, will convert American opinion to his view-

Mr Daniels’ speech made reference to the League of Nations. He said: America cannot return to the world, we left when we entered the war. We are now a part of the whole tworld. PRESIDENT WILSON’S SPEECH IN CONGRESS. 4 U 1 ’- ' r " WASHINGTON, Feb. 27 President Wilson told Congressmen at the discussion on the League of Nations that he hoped the League of Nations constitution would be adopts ted without radical changes. He said [the constitution of the League did not necessitate the abandonment of the Monroe Doctrine, but would extend it to the whole world. The Unitted States must be prepared to take her part in policing Armenia. When the United States joined the League some of the country’s attributes of Bovreignty would have to be surrendered, but it would be the same for the ether members of the League.
