THE INFLUENZA SCOURGE
ANOTHER OUTBREAK AT HOME. LONDON, February 23. There is every indication that the present epidemic will likely equa! the October influenza epidemic, which resulted in 150,000 deaths. Hundreds of fresh cases ate being hourly reported. Doctors are overworked and there is a great shortage of nurses.
The outbreak in the South of Ireland continues to spread with alarmingly high death rates. * Some doctors are complaining of the scarcity of whisky and branny. They assert that more spirits would save thousands of lives.
The deaths include Tom Ball, the international golfer.
IN 'AUSTRALIA
MELBOURNE, February 24 There were ten deaths from influenza to-day.
