DETAILS OF ASSISTANCE BUSINESS AND EDUCATION 'WELLINGTON, -Feb. 19 Draft regulations, issued by the General Repatriation Board, set out the constitution and functions of district boards and local committees The following summary shows. the" assistance and benefits that can be granted under the scheme:—
Business, plant, etc., loans up to £3OO for discharged soldiers or soldiers’ widows.
Payment of educational fees of soldiers or soldiers ’ widows receiving training for employment.
Furniture loans up to £SO, free of interest, to discharged soldier or soldiers’ widows. Sustenance allowance for soldiers awaiting employment as will ensure a weekly income, inclusive of pensions, up to: —(a) 42s for a single soldier; (b) 52s for a soldier and wife; (c) 55s (id for a soldier, wife, and one child; (d) 59s for a soldier, wife and two children; (e) 62s 6d for a soldier, wife and three children; (f) 66s for a soldier, wife and four ehilden. 1
A sustenance allowance for soldiers receiving training in Technical Schools, etc., and for students receiving training in commercial or professional occupations to ensure a. weekly income, inclusive of pensions, up to: —(a) 50s for a single soldier; (b) 60s for soldier land wife; (c) 63s 6d for a soldier, wife, and one child; (d) 67s for a soldier, wife, and two children; (e) 70s 6d for a soldier, wife and thitoe children; (f 74s lor a soldier, wife and four, children Payments to bring the income inclusive of pension up to £3 per week, for apprentices who have resumed their indentures.
Payments to bring the income, exclusive of pension up to £3 per week for trainees in private factories, wontshops, etc.
Payments to bring the income up to 35s per week for widows, without children, undergoing vocational training. ,
Loans up to £SO to be granted free of interest to soldiers to whom tools of trade and professional instruments or other articles of personal equipment are deemed necessary for the exercise of their calling. Prc'e passages from New Zealand for incapacitated soldiers or widows of deceased soldiers.
Free passages to New Zealand for widows of deceased soldiers.
Free passages within New Zealand to soldiers proceeding to r> locality in which employment han been found.
