Booth's Mill School Picnic.

(From. our own Correspondent.)

The various sports events provoked keen competition, especially the trophy races, trophies having ben donated by several Taihape business people. The married ladies' race was exceptionally exciting and resulted ina. dead heat between Mrs W. Taki and Mrs Butler, thereby necessitating a run off. A dainty ofternoon tea in regular picnic fashion, and provided by the School Committee, was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. On the completion of the sports events, each child received a toy. The following are the results of the Trophy events:— Gardner Bros.' trophy, 10s 6d Miss Gladys Cavanagh. Mr S. Peyton's trophy, lis 6d Taumata Eeo.

H. D. B'ennctts' Ltd. trophy, 12s 6d —Sammy Wiripu. Mr. D. Ncagle's trophy 10/6—Jack Wilson

McLaughlan Bros, trophy £1 Is, Married 'Ladies' Eace —Mrs W. Taki

School Committee trophy, 10/6 — Miss Cavanagh. A very well attended and much enjoyed dance was held in the evening in the Schoolroom, which 'had "been tastefully decorated, excellent music was supplied by Messrs. W. Millan a-nd G. Maher and everyone appreciated the premature witticisms of Mr. W. Taki, Mr. J. Robinson very ably carried out the duties of M.C.,

Gr&at credit is due to the School Committee for their untiring energies to make the day a success and special mention must be made of Mr Butler and Mr J. Eobinson.
