BUSH MYSTERY CLEARED UP BODIES FOUND

A bush mystery Avas cleared up yesterday, avli on Constable McGowan and a party of searchers found the remains of two men lost In the bush at Mangacturoa, a few miles from Raetihi. The names of the men were Wheeler and McLean, and their remains were discovered near the scene Avhere it was thought they were last working. The men were engaged on a survey party, and have been mising since November 12, 1918. During, that night a heavy storm passed over this district, and it was surmised that they wore struck by lightning. STATE COAL STRIKE OVER GREYMOUTH, Fob. 17

The State coal mine resumed work this morning. A large meeting of the Runanga Medical Association Avas held yesterday, and the delegates reported the rseult of the Wellington visit. It Avas resolved to accept the temporary arrangements made by the Minister, and a subsequent meeting of the Miners’ ’Union agreed to proposals for the resumption of work. It has been arranged that the medical officer in charge of the Greymouth Hospital Avill attend to the needs of the district.

THE SOFT GOODS DISPUTE

AUCKLAND, February 17

The Arbitration Court gave decision in the soft goods employees’ dispute to-day. The only question of importance was hours and preference. The Court said the hours were governed by the Shops and Offices Act, and it did not see its way to interfere with these hours in respect of one particular class of shop. No preference was granted. Regarding female employees, the Court decided that any female in a dress, Manchester, drapery, furnishing, men’s and juvenile clothing, mercery, piece silks velveteens, carpctc, linoleums, bedding, cotton dress goods, prints, etc, department, shall bo paid one-half more than the wages specified for females in the scale.
