GERALD GRIFFIN'S CLEARING SALE. The attention of farmers and others is drawn to the unreserved clearing sale 'to be held by Messrs. Dalgety and Co., of the whole of the stock and implements on Mr. Gerald Griffen's farm, on the Papakai Road. Mr Griffin has sold his farm and has to give almost immediate possession, he is therefore compelled to clear everything through the auctioneers ias the incoming purchaser has taken over nothing in the way of stock. In addition to some 16G& sheep from lambs up, Mr Griffin la.ss some very fine pedigree Shorthorn cattle of both sexes, and of various ages. Owing to the standard value of some of the purebred Shorthorn, cattle, a slight reserve will be placed on them, but, otherwise everything is to be cleared regardless of price. Amongst other things there is a Lister shearing plant, ia 4 horse power engine and a Sandow woolpress, besides a whole lot of farm machinery. The sale takes place on the farm, 3 miles from Taihape, on next Wednesday, 19th February, commencing at half paft twelvfe, '.punctually. Luncheon is provided.
A case of honesty being well rewarded occurred recently at the front A soldiery walking along the road, fonnd a wallet, and on opening it found there were notes to value oi) 100. The name on the papers insid< was that of a lieutenant then sjprv ing with a division citree to when the soldier was billeted. The took the wallet ronnd to the lieutenant, who gave him £lO as a reward and also three weeks' leave, The sol dier was Private E. E. J. Bogue, 0 Waiuku.
