AMERICAN SUGESTS BELGIUM NEW YORK, February 9 In the Course of an interview with the {London correspondent of the New York ‘ ‘ Times, V Mr. Oscar S. Straus, American Ambassador to Turkey in 1909-10, said that it would bo a good thing for Turkey to be under the mandatory of a member of the League of Nations, but the United States, was too far from Europe to undertake the administration. It would be better for a small Power like Belgium to be made the mandatory.
