DOMINION TOWN-PLANNING
CONFERENCE AT WELLINGTON PROPOSED ITINERARY. Details of the Dominion townplanning conference and exhibition which it is proposed to hold in Wellington in May next, have been circulated by the Government to all local bodies, and the latter have received an invitation to be represented at the same. The notification states that the presing necessity for the passing of comprehensive. legislation dealing with town-planning including the housing of the people, had been emphasised by the recent epidemic. In view of this it is desirable that' the propojsed conference should bo thoroughly representative, and delegates are to be invited from Parliament, local bodies, town-planning associations, Institute of Architects, trades and labour councils, women’s societies, and returned soldiers’ ciations. Mr Hurst Seager, who represented the Government at the Town Planning Conference and exhibition at Brisbane, will act in fhe capaetity of hon. organising director of the conference, and he proposes to take an early opportunity of visiting various parts of the Dominion with a view to explaining the proposals and other matters to be dealt with at the. conference. The programme includes papers on town planning legislation, reconstruction and repatriation problems, housing difficulties, recreation and educational facilities in their responsibility in relation to the inculcation of towrn planning principles.
