WAR WRECKAGE.
ENEMY ’8 PA YIN LY.
LONDON, February 5. General Sir F. B. Maurice, writing from Paris, says it is becoming abundantly clear that neither Germany nor all our enemies together can find the resources necessary to set the world on its feet again. Very little is expected from Austria, B'ulgaria and Turkey, and it is doubtful whether we shall bo lablc to wring suffi-
cicnt from Germany to restore the material damage done to France, Belgium, Serbia, and EoumanSla. Possibly Britain may obtain some shipping to compensate for her losses at sea. e
It is possible that Germany to some extent may meet the bill by territorial adjustments, such as the allocation of the Saar Valley coalfields to France to compensate for the destruction of the Lens coalfields Other similar arrangements are contemplated.
