Mr. John Bagley, of this town, w r as missing from his home on Tuesday evening, and as he di<i not return yesterday his disappearance was reported to the police, who promptly commenced a search in the direction he had last been seen. At five o’clock this morning the police found Baglcy’s hat on the cliff near the Borough gravel pit, and seeing no other trace there they descended to tho river below, some hundred feet down, where they found! the unfortunate many’s body in shallow water, his face not being submerged. . The body was brought in and placed in the morgue, and an inquest is being hold by Mr. J. P. Aldridge, coroner, at three o’clock this afternoon. The deceased was a returned soldier, and he leaves a wife and three children. There is nothing to indicate how he got into the water, as there are no abrasions or bruises on the body to suggest a fall from the almost perpendicular cliff above. The deceased had many friends hereabout and his sudden demise will be deeply and widely regretted.
