REPATRIATION OF ALL DOMINION TROOPS. WITHIN NINE MONTHS. WELLINGTON, this day. Sir Jasi Alle stated to a deputation yesterday it was anticipated that all New Zealand troops would be back in the" Dominion within nine months. EMPLOYEES' LIABILITY. AN INTERESTING POINT. WELLINGTON, Jan. 27 The liability of employers to pay wages for time lost during the epidemic was the subject of an opinion given by the Solicitor-General. He advises that tile compulsory closing of places by the Health Department does not make away the obligation of an employer to pay wages. The only employers who can refuse to pay are those who took" occasion to terminate the engagement of servants in a proper manner. However, in certain easel: of employment by the day or hour, the terms may be such that the mere closing of premises is sufficient notice of termination. The SolicitorGeneral also .Ays: Whether the premises are closed or not, employers are liable until employment is terminated, to pay the wages of employees absent through illne'e. Employers' liability will be the subject of test cases this week.
