THE BULGARIAN CAMPAIGN.
an interesting despatch. LONDON, January 21. The Gazette contains a- despatch from General Milne describing the important part the British played in the offensive of last September and August against the Bulgarians between Lake Doiran and the Vardar The British fought sanguinary battles, suffering and inflicting severe losses in their assaults, and dominating elaborately-fortified heights on P. Ridge and the Grand Couronne. Those battles served their object, which was to pin down th'e Bulgarian reserves so that they were unavailable to oppose the great Franco-Serb-ian attack, w T hich burst through and led to the utter defeat of the enemy. The despatch incidentally mentions that when news of the armistice with Turkey was received, General Milne was actually on the river Maritza, ready to occupy Adrianoplp while the First Hellenic Corps was echeloned between Kavalla and Drama, ready to participate in the general advance on Constantinople.
