PRESIDENT WILSON.
A THUMB NAIL SKETCH
So far as known, President Wilson is the only statesman who can weild a typewriter. He delights in a battered old machine, which he carries with him everywhere. He works it strenuously in his library, and even in the railway train. He is a good operator, and can tap out words quite rapidly. He rarely uses a. pen, and composes all his speeches, messages, and other public documents straight off on the typewriter. He is very reserved in his ways. He sees few people and consults with fewer. His habits are simple. Every morning ho plays golf with his wife or hTs doctor —a retired naval man who lives in the White House. At night ho goes early to bed, but two or three times a week ho attends a variety show’. Someone said recently that the President has tho habit of lying awake at night reading exciting novels. His comment wns, “No novel is worth tho loss of an hour’s sleep.”
