HUN MUDDLE.
EIGHT DEFINITE PARTIES. NATIONAL ASSEMBLY’S TASK VANCOUVER, December 29. A message from The Hague says that the German National Assembly will comprise eight parties, as follows: First The Majority headed by Schcidemann and Ebert. Second —The Independents, with Haasfe, Lcdcbour, and Barth. Third—The Bpartacus Group of anarchists, Communists, world revolutionists, and opponents of Parliamentary government, led by Dr. Liebknccht, and Rosa Luxemburg. The last-named group is numerically small but will endeavour to influence the electors by terrorism, and perhaps here and there wil make orderly elections impossible. The Independents also expect to have relatively small success at the polls. Fourth—Two groups are distinguishable as the bourgeoisie parties — namely, the German Democratic party represented by the Berliner blatt and the Frankfurter Zcitung, which demands that its supporters shall joyfully assent to the revolution, and not only accept the republic but defend it. Fifth —The German People’s party, of -which Herr Stcsemann is the backbone, and which consists of the members of the National Liberal party, who remained true to National Liberal principles, and received some accessions from the Liberals. Sixth and Seventh The German National and German People’s party of von Kardoff, which unites the Conservatics, Free Conservatives, Christian Socialists and those known as the * f Deutsch Volkische.” Eight—The National Democrats now party of bourgeoisie republicans.
