DEMOBILISATION IN ENGLAND.
o— The question now in the big cloth factories of the West Biding is how will the civilian trade be affected by the drastic reduction in the requirements of khaki? It is not expected that the ordinary civilian trade will conic into its own for some considerable time, as the Army Council has decided to supply each discharged soldier with a. standard civilian suit. This will mean an enormous demand on the industry for standard "woollen cloth. The transition from khaki to standard cloth presents no difficulty, and having equipped the men for fighting purposes the department will now equip them for peace. If is expected that meanwhile them will be a gradual increase in the amount of raw material and machinery available for the civilian trade. There is no likelihood, therefore, of any disturbance in the wool textile trade in consequence of the cessation of military requirements, and so far a.s prosent indications go employment will continue to be sufficient to absorb all available work-people.
