SYDNEY PRISON SENSATION. ESCAPE BY GERMAN INTERNEES. SYDNEY, January 2. Another prison sensation is reported. During the night, four German internees Seamen, Carre, Shallock, and' Reiser —escaped from the detention barracks at the old Darlinghurst gaol. They improvised a rope of blankets, scaled the high walls, and got clear away. A mysterious part of the affair is that the doors of their separate empty cells were found securely locked and barred, also another door through which they had made their exit. Three of the escapees were prominent athletes. Carre made previous escapes from detention camps. Later. —It is reported that Reiser was captured in the city this afternoon.
