POLITICAL “WILD BEASTS." ! NEW SOUTH' WILES INCIDENT j The session, of the New South ! Wales Parliament closed on Wednes- I day of last week with a very un- j pleasant scene, which culminated iu ■ the members of the Opposition declining to join the Premier in the customary sessional supper. | The Premier, in moving the adjourn- j incut of the session, said it had left j the effect of its ravages 1 upon, mem- j bers both in body and mind. He | wished them all the compliments of 1 the 'season, and invited them into the j dining hall. The loader of the Opposition said that before accepting the Invitation he desired to know if the Premier had been correctly reported in his speech at the Conscrvatorium that afternoon, because )f ho made a certain statement attributed to him it would be impossible for the Opposition to join him in a function for the purpose of exchanging compliments. The reference objected was: ‘ 1 We have to carry on as best we many against ‘ ‘ the wild beasts," and those elements which have made up the Parliamentary life of this session. rr \ Mr Holman said ho had not referred to the Opposition members. Ho protested against his jocular remarks which could not be understood except in the manner in which, they were said, being read' scri'ouslyv A strange .and unprecedented Parliamentary spectacle was subsequently witnesses. The Nationalist Party held their social function in the dining hall —the Labour Party foregathered in their own caucus room. ' .. KEEP UP YOUR GUARD AGAINST COLDS.
