New Year Hurdle Race Loyal Arch 1, Ditto 2, Sir Solo 3. Also ran: Thrace, Waimai, Tenacious, Penniless The Channel, Midsummer Handicap—Sundance 1, Betholia 2, Canowindra 3. Also started Macduff, Solfanella, Emine, Yankee Dan, Passing Through, Rebuff, j Princess Charming; Pentagram. Hca- } ther Moon, Mistress Biddy, Phyllona, . Arati. Great Northern Derby —Gloaming 1, Kilmoon 2, Karo 3. The only other starter was Demoiselle. Won easily by a length and a half. Newmarket Handicap—King Lupin 1, Nanna 2, Birkenvale 3. Also started: Gazique, Form Up, Onslaught Downham, Cadrona, Sheila, Lord Kenilworth, and Arran. Won by a length and a half. A.R.C. Handicap Red Ribbon I, Cynic 2, Kilrush 3. Won by a. length. Marton Cup—All Over 1, Rude 2, Nystad 3. Also started: Hydros, Multaine, Risingham, Lord Ainslie, and Classification. HAWKE’S BAY J.C. SUMMER 1 MEETING. FIRST DAY. HASTINGS, January 2. The Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club opened its Summer Meeting yesterday. Following are the results: Maiden Handicap—Melit 1, Esperance 2, Tari 3. Won by two lengths Christmas Handicap: Sweet Corn 1, Actifid 2, Sea Lard 3. Also started: Tavistock, Murrce, Revocation, Won by half a length. Welter Handicap: Consultation I, Retard 2, Namur 3. Won by a head. President’s Handicap: Multifual I, Iviltess 2, Perfidy 3. Also started: Multive, Pacific Slope, Tressida Hyland, Hyttus. Won easily by three lengths. Otatara Jumpers’ Flat: Otara 1, Aurore 2, Want 3. Won by three lengths. Two-Yoar-Old Handicap: Asterina 1 Mirk 2; Night Time 3. Won by a head. Flying Handicap: Tutieorn 1, Hymarty 2, Beloved 3.
