COALITIONISTS GAIN OVERWHELMING MAJORITY.

MR ASQUITH DEFEATED

LONDON, Dec.2B

At the elections, the Coalitionists, obtained Jan overwhelming majority. Mr Asquith was beaten at East Fife. Others defeated arc Sir John Simon, Mr Ramsay M.acdonald, Hon. Herbert Samuel, Mrs. Pankhurst, Philip Snowden, and Arthur Henderson. Those elected include Mr Lloyd George, Sir Erie Geddes, and Sir Albert Stanley, Most of the women candidates were (Jefieafed, Fein 'captured jfcihe majority of the Nationalists' seats. A progress report showed that Coalitionists have been elected to 127 seats, Liberals to 56, Labour 23, Later figures read: Coalition 354, Oppositionists 116

Coalitionists at Bliackburn beat Philip Snowden by 16,000. Edwards (Coalition-Labour) 7972, defeated Arthur Henderson (Labour) 5024.

MR LLOYD GEORGE'S HUGE MAJORITY. LONDON, December 28. Mr Lloyd George (13,993) defeated Harrison (Independent) 1095. Sir Arthur SprOtt (Unionist) 899(5, defeated the Hon. H. H. Asquith (6996). Mr. Short (Secretary of Ireland), was elected. Do Valera (Sinn Finn), was defeated. The Countess Markievitcz has been elected. (The Countess Markievitcz was a leading spirit in the Dublin Rebellion). The Hon. Reginald MeKcnna was defeated. (Mr. McKenna had long service in the Asquith Ministry. When war broke out he was Minister of Home Affairs.) STATE OF PARTIES. COALITIONIST MAJORITY GROWING.
