ALLIES AND RUSSIA. ASSISTANCE DEMANDED. PARIS, December 27. The Paris Press sharply criticises M. Pichon's announcement that the Allies are unwilling to dispatch large forces to Russia. It points out that the Esthonians are left defenceless against the Bolsheviks owing to the retreating German troops carrying off supplies. The B'ritish cruiser Calypso captured two Bolshevist destroyers in the Eastern Baltic, one of which was engaged in bombing the lighthouse near Reval.

The Polish Government has 60,000 soldiers, but little equipment, only 70 guns and a few old aeroplanes. Poland appeals to the Allies for help.
