ALLIES AND RUSSIA. ASSISTANCE DEMANDED. PARIS, December 27. The Paris Press sharply criticises M. Pichon's announcement that the Allies are unwilling to dispatch large forces to Russia. It points out that the Esthonians are left defenceless against the Bolsheviks owing to the retreating German troops carrying off supplies. The B'ritish cruiser Calypso captured two Bolshevist destroyers in the Eastern Baltic, one of which was engaged in bombing the lighthouse near Reval.
JAP FORCES WITHDRAWN FROM SIBERIAReceivod 9.20 a.m. NEW YORK, Dec. 29. A United Press Tokio message states according to a press announcement Japan withdraws half her army from Siberia. BOLSHEVIKS MARCHING ON POLAND. Received 9.20 a.m. COPENHAGEN, Dec. 29. Russian Bolshevics are preparing to invado Poland, advancing on Kovno and Vilna. The Polish Government has 60,000 soldiers, but little equipment, only 70 guns and a few old aeroplanes. Poland appeals to the Allies for help. PITCHED BATTLE BETWEEN ' POLES AND BOLSHEVIKS Received 1.35 a.m. AMSTERDAM, Dec. 29 A pitched battle has been fought at Dombrova between the Bolsheviks and Poles The result is unknown. BOLSHEVIKS NOT RECOGNISED. Received noon. LONDON, Dec. 29. It is understood t that the Government refuses to consider Letvinoffs peace offer, since the dos not recognise the Bolshevik Government.
