PROFESSOR'S PROTESTATION. WASHINGTON, Dec 7. Bruce Bielaski, the Government Alien Investigator, continuing evidence before the Senate committee on pro-German activities, said Count Bernstorff's message recommending Mr. Hales' selection was mentioned to Hearst. He did not know Hale as a paid German agent. Professor David Starr Jordan, of Stanford University, protested against the inclusion of his name in Bernstorff's list of those favourable to Germany's cause. The only time He ever communicated with.
