REGULATING AERIAL TRAFFIC
J o | The possible necessity for an "air traffic cop" was suggested at Chicago recently in a statement by Captain B. B. Lipsner of the air nuail division of the United States Post Office Department, who declared that "zones" had already been defined in • the -air for the safety of planes carrying mail between and New York. Captain Lipsner said that all air space between 2500 feet and 3500 feet levels had been reserved solely for the Government machines. All other planes private and commercial, he said, would have to fly below or above that space. "Arrangements have been made by the War and Post Office Departments whereby hundreds of war airplanes available after the war are to be used in air mail service."
