COMING BY-ELECTIONS. ISSUE OF WRITS DELAYED. The coming by-elections for Wellington South ( and Palmerston seats, rendered vacant through the decease of Messrs A. IT. Hindmarsh and D. Buick, the respective members, were mentioned in the House' of Representatives on Tuesday. Mr, Massey moved that the Speaker he given power to issue the writs in respect to the elections. Mr. W. A. Veitch (Wanganui) said that in view of the epidemic it wag exceedingly dangerous to hold the elections at once. Mr. Massey said he had refrained from moving for the issue of the writs as long as possible. Even now the date of the issue of the writs was not fixed —they would he issued inside of I three weeks from now. He had power j to postpone the date of the elections. Mr. Veitch; I hope you will exercise this power if necessary.
