BRAIN REFUSED TO WORK.

It was stated of George Hartley, 43, ■a bank clerk, of Swinton, near Manchester, who was chajjged at Wallasey with attempting to commit suicide in the Mersey, that he svas heard shouting for help at two o 'clock on Wednesday morning and was found clinging to the Seaeombe Ferry stage. Ho said that he jumped into the water afc half-past eleven, and had been there ever since. He stated in court that he had been working at high pressure for four years, and had got to the end of his tether, and his brain refused to work any longer. He did not know he got to Liverpool, and remembered nothing until he found himself clinging to the chains of the landing stage. He was handed over to his relatives.
