ABNORMAL SOLAR UPHEAVAL.
ME, WRAGGE'S REPORT. - : '' Probably centuries have elapsed since the sun displayed such remarkable activity as has been the case recently," writes, Mr. Clement Wragge, "At present there is a mighty solar upheaval, quite abnormal, seeing that the beginning of the minimum period of activity should now be evolving. The existing sun storm, observed at 5.45 this morning, has one enormous nucleus about 50,000 miles in diameter with a long trail of boiling, seething maelstrom exceeding 100,000 miles in length, and the whole disturbed area is, by solar rotation, approaching the centre of the disc. It is impossible to resist the conclusion that, seeing that suns, planets, and solar systems are interlinked by wireless wave lengths, of ether throughout the fathomless depths of the Endless Universe with the Infinite Dynamo operating the stupendous whole, our sun is being af-' fected by extraneous" cosmic factors of which mankind, in our day, knows next to nothing. Probably our next nearest, sun, Alpha Centauri (a mag-nificent-double sun and the brightest of the 'Pointers' to the. Southern Cross) is the operating factor in the production of the solar storms, which in their turn affect the earth and the entire solar system. It is tremendous conclusion, but one that is en« tirely feasible, seeing that, althoguh Alpha Centauri is distant 25,000,000,-. 000,000 miles, the ether vibrations, or musical notes from it, reach our sunin 41-3 years, travelling at 186,000 miles a second. One must remember that there is no such thing, scientifically, as isolation; that everything is linked up by wireless ad infinitum; that the great laws of cause and effect are ever: operating; that from the Infinitely Grand to the Infinitely Small is all the same story; and that everything is part and parcel of everything else. r The present . mighty sun storm Can be seen, with the aid of smoked glass. "One may reasonably expect t.o hear of seimie, magnetic, and meteorological disturbance."
