THE MAIN TRUNK SLIP.
WELLINGTON, this day. The Railway Department has received news that at midday yesterday an engine and three 0 r four waggons of a mixed train were derailed betweena Mangaweka and Utiku, on the Main Trunk Line, by a land slip of considerable magnitude. The mishap caused' no personal injury. The slip was due to the unprecedented- amount of wet weather lately. It is anticipated it will take some time to clear the linifc Meanwhile through passengers havb to be transhipped. The goods traffic ; on the line will be held up until the ■ I obstruction has been jpemowd.
