Attention is drawn to the requirements of the District Health Officer, as to disinfecting and cleansing of billard rooms, hairdressing saloons, picture theatres, etc., before they will be allowed to be re-opened. The disinfecting and cleansing must be down to the satisfaction of the Inspector, under the Public Health Act, Mr. Swindells.

In our advertising columns the Mayor (Mr A. L. Arrowsmith) is appealing to the public of Taihape for gifts of children's clothing for distribution amongst children who have lost parents. Any person having anything to give is asked to merely ring up No. 4, the Town Hall, and inform the Mayor of what they have to give As a real and extreme necessity exists in this connection it is hoped there will be a large and ready, response.

The Inglewood Record advertises in a Now Plymouth paper as follows: "The proprietary tender their sincere apology for the non-appearance of the Inglewood Record, for the first time in its life. Although, the staff all left alive and well on Saturday evening, only two showed up this morning, and one had to be taken home per motorcar within an hour, the editor and boy being the only ones, left, rendering publication impossible."

By ‘ ‘ Gazette Extraordinary” issued on Thursday, His Excellency the Gov-ernor-General .under section 18 of the Public Health Act,-. 1908, conferred upon all district health officers under the Act power and authority, with the approval of the Minister for Public Healthy to prohibit the siale within their districts of tall alcoholic liquor for the purpose of more effectually checking or preventing the spread of influenza.

The Public Hospital is hampered in the noble work it is accomplishing in fighting the raging epidemic, by want of assistance. The hopsital is in immediate want of help in the laundry, to-day tho last. laimdry. worker left, and the institution „is without anyone to attend tp that important par of influenza fight. Two women are wanted at once, to whom good wages will be paid, and it is hoped that two nobleminded women will apply so that the good, work of life-saving may go on without hindrance.
