MOTORING IN NIPPON.
The following appear among the English-Japanese- road rules, framed for the guidance*"of motorists in the Land of the Chrysanthemum:— At the raise of the hand of the policeman stop rapidly. Do not pass him by or disrespect Mm. Give big space to the festive dogs that make sport on the roadway. Avoid mixup of dog with your wheel spokes. Beware of the wandering horse that he shall not fright as you pass Mm. Do not explode the exhaust box at him . Go soothingly by. Go soothingly on the grease-mud as there lurk the skid-demon. Pedal the brake of your foot as you roll round the corners, and save the collapse and the tip-up. ~ When passengers of the foot hove- in sighth tootle the ho'rn-frumpet melodiously at first. If he still obstacles your passage, tootle him with the more vigour, and express by word of mouth the warning, “Hi; Hi!”
