WOOL PURCHASE.
IMPERIAL TERMS RECOMMENDED. WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. The Prime Minister announced in the Hons© to-day ? in reply to a question by Mr Nosworthy as to the actual position in regard to the commandeering of wool by the Imperial Government, that the matter had been practically settled. Personally he -was strongly of opinion that it would be in the best interest of the Dominion if the requisitioning of wool were extended for at least one full season after the war came to an end. (Hear, hear.) He had no doubt that the Imperial Government -would keep to the contemplated arrangement, but legislation would be necessary owing to there being a difference of opinion among growers. This legislation was included in the War Legislation Bill which would be introduced on the following day. , .■
PEACE CONFERENCE. DOMINION TO BE REPRESENTED. WELLINGTON, Nov. 7 The important question of the Dominion’s representation at the forthcoming Peace Conference was raised in the House to-day by Mr Craigie, who asked if the Prime Minister would make a statement as to the Gonrnment’s ’ intentions on the matter. Mr. Massey replied that he was sorry to say that he had no information to convey to the House, for the simple reason that no communication had been received from the Imperial Government. It seemed beyond doubt that the Peace Conference would be convened at a comparatively early date. “I have not the slightest doubt,” he added, “that New Zealand will bo asked to send one, or perhaps two. representatives to the conference. ” Ho assured the House that whenever a communication was received the decision of .the- Cabinet would be made known to the House -nd- to- the country. . .. ..
