WESTERN FRONT.

LESS RESISTANCE ON THE BRITISH FRONT.

LONDON, November 5,

The weather conditions on the front are very bad, but it is too early to predict the effect on the fighting. The German opposition was stiff during yesterday morning, but lessened as tho day progressed. We identified during 1 the advance twenty regiments on a front of one of-our armies alone. Progrss this morning was accentuated in the Mormal Forest. The Americans reached the outskirts -of Stenay, 24 miles north-west of Verdun, and also occupied Grand Sarrtoises, They are now within eight miles of the railway through Mezieres. . The position at Ghent indicates that the fall of the city may not come for some time. ! .
