NEW ZEALAND NEWS

MILITARY MATTERS. CANTEEN ADMINISTRATION. WELLINGTON, this day. The Minister of Defence has advised that the first portion of the Fortythird Reinforcements have arrived safely. As from yesterday the Trentham Camp canteens were placed under the administration of the military authorities. All profits are to be paid into the canteen fund, and arc returnable to the men through the respective units. Prices are on a par with, and in some cases lower, than pre-war rates. Civilians are strictly debarred from participating in the benefits of the system, which are designed purely for the soldier. A similar system has been in operation in Featherston Camp for some time.
