THE Q.A.R,. BAND.

The Wangamii Chronicle of Wednesday says: The Queen [Alexandra Band arrived back in Wariganui last evening They have come home, too, with a veryexalted opinion- of 'the hospitality of Taihape. The. good people of the Main Trunk town seemed as if they could not do enough for our bandsmen. The band visited Taihape to help in the Red Cross effort. They were supposed to arrive in time for a concert on Saturday evening, but owing to the train not making the progress that was expected of it, it was 9.45 before Taihape was reached. The bandsmen thought the fixture would have been "off" but the people had been waiting patiently and the patience continued till midnight. They enjoyed the music. The band also gave c concert On Sunday afternoon and in the evening, and yesterday took part in the gala. Taihape was en fete. There was a fine procession, with tank and tableaux, and there was numerous sideshows on the ground. It was expected that the amount realised would ocme <ocse on £I.OOO. Everyone, settlers and all, entered into the spirit of the affair and made it a great success, Moving' picture operators had even come down from Auckland for the occasion. The band were taken for a fine motor trop of 40 miles on Sunday morning. They contributed so the Taihape people say, in no small measure to the success of the effort.
