The body of an ordinary sad iron is made of one solid piece of metal. Hot metal radiates its ’ heat in all directions, but mostly UPWARDS, because beat naturally rises. The only place where beat is useful is at the BOTTOM. Heat that rises is wasted. ASBESTOS SAD IRONS are made differently, The solid iron part is covered at top and sides by a hood, lined with asbestos and with an air space inside. Air and asbestos are nor conductors of beat, so it cannot escape at the top 'and sides and is thus concentrated at the bottom of the iron. There is no waste of beat, and the iron stays hot much longer. OBTAINABLE PROM H. D. Bennett, Ltd., TAIHAPE. -v v-- v
