AEROPLANE REPAIRS. The fighting aeroplanes on the battle front came in in every conceivable ! state of wreckage, writes a correspondent. O'ccasioif&lly one will arrive under its own power to have some minor repair done while tHe pilot waits, and will fly away again when it has been put right. Others arrive on motor lorries, a mere mass of twisted and shattered wood and wire. But the rule at this plant is that no aeroplane is too far gone to be useful. The first step is to dismantle ft thoroughly and test every, part. Those that are unsafe are rejected, whilst those that are 'sound are placed on one side for rebuilding. If the greater part of the machine is sound it is passed along to be rebuilt and the missing parts are supplied from the bins -which contain not only new material hut parts from machines too hopelessly crashed to be repaired. There is even a watchmaker's shop and a scientific instrument factory connected with this plant, and it is all in charge of a flying corps major, who was an engineer before he became a soldier and an industrial organiser.
Children are Often Condemned as “Ml” or “Lazy” WHEN THEY ARE NOTHING OF THE KIND. THEIR EYESIGHT IS AT FAUTJT. Eyestrain makes them slower to see and consequently slower to mentally grasp points before them. Mr W. RUSSELL Who is a Teacher of Optical Science, has made the human eye his whole life’s study. He is an exceptional man in the optical field. His method of dealing with children is unique; with his Visoptometre he can test eyes, exactly diagnose and prescribe glasses when‘necessary without asking the patient any questions. This method of dealing with children should appeal to parents. With the ordinary method of testing the operator has to rely entirely upon the patient's answers, which often lead to mistakes and wrongly fitted glasses. I would strongly advise anyone who has the slightest eye defect to consult MR. RUSSELL, G. 5.0.1., D.F.0.C., without delay If ho .prescribes glasses you may rely upon having perfect comfort and ease. I am in a position to know that MR. RUSSELL is a specially qualified and reliable Optician. 1 iai ifjm m /A *!&'I vji CONSULTATION BY APPOINTMENT AT MY PHARMACY. W. H. FOOKES CHEMIST, MAIN STREET,.
